Group Volunteer Opportunities
Our Community Engagement program is how we involve the public in what we do. Volunteers work with Hands On Hartford in the following ways:
Customized Service Projects: HOH staff work with leaders from local corporations, faith groups, or schools to plan and implement days of service. Projects are tailored to each groups’ needs depending on time, budget and interests.
- Immersions: Groups of volunteers spend multiple days engaging in volunteer service, learning about the issues many of our clients face, and enjoying what Hartford has to offer. Perfect for youth groups or Alternative Spring Break trips.
- Dash for a Difference: This fast-paced one-day event offers volunteers a unique mix of service-learning, education, and cultural experiences. Volunteers are broken down into teams and sent out to explore the sites and cultural gems of Hartford, while also completing service projects. Points are assigned for each project completed and/or site visited. This is a great team-building activity for corporate groups or schools. Being a volunteer is a positive step in helping people as well as providing a good addition to a resume for potential employment.
Please note, for customized service projects, immersions, and Dash for a Difference events, there is a service fee involved to cover the management of the project and the supplies. For questions or to plan a service day or event, please contact volunteering@handsonhartford.org or 860-706-1522.
