How do I volunteer at Hands On Hartford?

Can I volunteer in the evening or on weekends?

With the exception of special events, our volunteering opportunities fall on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30am-5:00pm.

Do you have any one-time volunteer opportunities?

Due to limited volunteer onboarding capacity, we request that our volunteers commit to volunteering on a consistent basis.

I have community service hours to complete. Can I complete them at Hands On Hartford?

We are happy to accommodate volunteers in need of community service hours. Please note that volunteers needing to complete community service hours on a time sensitive bases may not be accepted, or may not be able to complete all hours with us.

I’m under 18, can I volunteer?

To volunteer in Hands On Hartford’s programs, you must be at least 16 years old and have parental permission. Volunteers ages 10 and up may volunteer with their parent or guardian present at holiday community meals or special events.

What should I wear to volunteer?

Dress casual but appropriate in a professional setting. All volunteers must wear closed toe non-slip shoes. Gather55 volunteers are required to tie back long hair and should wear a baseball cap if able.
