Partnerships Update

Prudential Shows Up and Shows Out!
Thank you to the amazing volunteers from Prudential who joined us last month for a day of impact during Global Volunteer Month! Our Faces of Homelessness Speaker, Ralph, started off the event by sharing his personal story of lived experience with the group, followed by a brief Q&A. Inspired, the team then packed an impressive 360 bags full of protein-rich snacks and bottled water for our Homeless Outreach distribution efforts. Such an incredible afternoon filled with meaning and impact! We're proud to be a part of Prudential's 150-year legacy of showing up for the communities they serve.

HSB Shows Summer Joy!
We're so grateful to Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) for filling over 230 “Fun-in-the-Sun” safety kits for our Kids’ Backpack Nutrition Program. Each kit, packed with sunscreen, lip balm with SPF, bubble wands, sunglasses, and chalk, was personalized with care and creativity by 65 of their amazing employees! It was a pleasure to have them join us for this special event and to share more about Hands On Hartford. We also deeply appreciate their generous donations of 500 toiletry kits for our Homeless Outreach team and their recent financial support. Thank you, HSB, for your continued partnership and commitment to making a difference in our community!

Team Fundraising Finale!
We’re thrilled to announce that thanks to the incredible support of Hands On Hartford staff, friends, family, and neighbors, we raised a total of nearly $35,000 through our Walk Against Hunger fundraising efforts! These funds will directly support food access in our MANNA Community Pantry and Backpack Nutrition Programs.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, walked, and stood with us . Your generosity and presence make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. Together, we’re building a stronger, more nourished community.

Walk In Their Shoes
HOH's Community Building Committee, alongside our Food Access Specialist, Danielle, developed it's first “Walk in Their Shoes: A Food Access Experience” workshop to raise staff awareness about food insecurity. Staff were divided into groups based on transportation mode and tasked with grocery shopping on a limited budget.
The activity highlighted challenges related to affordability, availability, and access to nutritious food. A post-activity discussion explored key issues such as dietary diversity, transportation barriers, SNAP stigma, and implicit bias.

Welcoming Home Our Neighbors!
A big thank you to the many congregants at Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor who donated six "Welcome Home" kits for individuals recently housed through our Homeless Outreach Program. Each kit, filled with 29 essential items- from cleaning supplies to kitchenware and home décor- helps turn a new space into a true home. We're so grateful for this generous support!
