Join us in the fight to educate, empower, and make change!

The Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau travels through the state of Connecticut to share their own experiences of homelessness, dispel myths, educate audiences on the causes of homelessness, and encourage others to get involved in making positive changes in the community.

Are you looking for a unique way to engage your classroom, community, or professional staff?

Hands On Hartford welcomes the community to share in a powerful and interactive educational experience offered by our Faces of Homelessness Speakers Bureau. We are flexible with the format of events and strive to create a learning experience that is effective and beneficial for everyone involved. Typically, presentations include:

  • An overview of homelessness & Hands On Hartford’s work
  • Speakers’ stories
  • Q&A session
  • Ways you can get involved

Events start at $300 which includes a speaker honorarium. Exact pricing is dependent on audience size, type of event, and event location.

"I like to let people know that I didn’t let homelessness stagnate me to the point that I couldn’t do anything for myself; it was all about taking my life back from the streets and once I was able to do that, I knew that I was capable of doing anything, above and beyond."

- Rosemary Rainey, Faces of Homelessness Speaker

“It has been very cathartic sharing my journey, providing a form of healing for me. I enjoy speaking about my experiences because I can take my negative experiences and create positive change.”

- Ralph Gagliardo, Faces of Homelessness Speaker

Testimonials from past audience members:
“It makes you realize how imperfect housing is and how challenging it can be to recoup it once it has been lost“

"This really opened my eyes regarding services available to those in need. I inappropriately assumed the help available both met the demand and situations of those in need."
